WELCOME NEW INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TO CONESTOGA COLLEGE!

As your May 2020 programs will be offered remotely, we are pleased to inform you that your Program Orientation has moved online. Orientation is an exciting time where you will learn about your academic program, college supports, and ways to engage and connect. You will be able to participate in a full suite of Program Orientation sessions tailored to you, our valued international students. 

To begin your journey at Conestoga, be sure to complete the steps in the New International Student Checklist.

Below you will find program orientation and start-up information:

1. College Program Orientation using Zoom video conferencing software

You will receive an email from the college with program orientation information to get you prepared for the first day of classes. Program orientation dates are specific to your program of study. Please see the program orientation schedule for details. 

2. Tips for your College Success: International Student Panel

You will hear from current international students who offer insight and tips for success as a Conestoga student. Laura Stoutenburg, a Teaching & Learning expert, will join us to facilitate an interactive webinar, highlighting keys to success in a Canadian (remote/online) classroom!

3. Welcome to Conestoga

4. Virtual International Transition Booth: Meet and Chat with Your International Transition Coordinators!

Learn about international transition supports and ask questions about the international student experience! At a Virtual International Transition Booth, students will meet International Transition Coordinators and student peers, share their experience so far, and receive tips from International Transition Coordinators.

International Transition Coordinators
Transition Coordinators

There are several important Orientation and start-up events at your campus. Please complete all 3 activities described below for the smoothest transition to your life and studies here.

  1. Attend your College Program Orientation to know important program information, course requirements, employment pathways and meet your faculty and classmates. Learn about your support services available to you as a Conestoga student.
  2. Check in with International Transition Services to get important information about housing, local transportation, and adapting to life in Canada.
  3. Attend your International Welcome Event to mix and mingle with international student ambassadors, classmates, college staff and faculty.

English for Academic Studies (EAS) Program Orientation

The Conestoga Language Institute invites new Spring 2020 students to an online Program Orientation over Zoom. This session will better prepare you for the upcoming semester and provide you with key information regarding the new online class delivery, as well as student supports available to you.

Conestoga 101

In addition to orientation events, all new full-time cohort students should access Conestoga 101 (CON0101) through eConestoga. CON0101 is a mandatory course in program designs. This self-directed online course will take approximately 90 minutes to complete, and focuses on introducing new students to the supports, services, and opportunities available at the college.
